Project Engineer


He/she is part of project teams in the successful commercial and technical tendering process, management of operations and subsequent reporting. Responsible for operations on a project site. He reports to the Project Manager on day to day operations and is the contact person for the Customer (as representative of the Project Manager) and subcontractors offshore. Project Engineer is an all encompassing role to cover the field operation.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Although the tasks the position entails are given in general terms, the level at which the tasks are to be performed varies considerably as there is a direct relationship between the nature of the assignment and the degree of difficulty of the tasks the position entails.

The tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Main tasks and responsibilities
• Responsible for compliance with company policies on Quality and Safety
• Assists the Project Manager with the preparation of the Project Execution Manual (PEM), project performance monitoring, progress reporting, project cost control, compilation of the project reports and deliverables in compliance with company’s procedures and contractual requirements
• Responsible for ensuring all equipment and personnel are mobilized on the project site and tested as appropriate.
• Responsible for the performance of job related risk assessments on both Quality and Safety, e.g. JSA’s, TRA’s
• Responsible for the implementation of safety briefings and application of company emergency procedures
• Responsible for the co-ordination and execution of project site activities liaising with the Project Manager, the Customer and other contractors and subcontractors on site.
• Responsible for the continued operation of all systems on the project site which are the responsibility of the company and liaise with the Project Manager in case of faults / replacement requirements.
• Responsible for the interpretation of weather forecasts
• Discusses project progress with the Project Manager
• Ensures the requirements of the contract/specification on the project site are adhered to.
• Supervises the project team on a project site
• Deputize for the Project Manager for relevant items in his/her absence where no alternative deputy has been appointed.

What are your skills:
Skills & Education
• B.Sc. in Naval or Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or lower level education compensated with relevant experience
• Excellent knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken
• Ability to represent and market the company
• Be master of Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) or equivalent
• Operational skills commensurate with role and responsibility
• Conversant with computer operation and application software
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or less experience compensated with higher level education

Authority

• Authorised to stop any activity if considered unsafe
• Authorised to perform job related Task Risk Assessments (limited)
• Authorised to perform job related Job Safety Analysis (limited)
• Authorised to submit and Emergency Response Form


Communication

Internal
• Project Manager for ongoing performance of projects and applicable availably of human resources
• Technical Support Manager and Marine Manager for availability of equipment
• QHSE Manager for Quality and Safety related issues
• Team Assistant for arranging personnel logistics

External
• Customer (as Project Manager Representative only)
• Subcontractors
• Suppliers
• Local authorities
